Not everything around the globe is as dire as the daily newscasts may make it seem on some days with impending doom forecast as a result of nuclear war heads, H1N1 flu, and climate change. In fact, in some places of the world, the global weekend news highlight is a bit more chipper. Here are a few of the happier headlines making the news around the world. |
In Cape Town, Africa a new spa treatment with origins from India will be opened at the Taj Mahal that should help boost the rejuvenation of the town. Not only will guests be able to enjoy the spa and wellness activities, but they can also take some time to enjoy fine Indian cuisine at the Masala Kraft restaurant.
Elsewhere in the United States, the amount of people dying from cancer is decreasing as cancer screening is becoming more commonplace in preventative care and treatment options are getting better for those diagnosed with cancer. Additionally, strong campaigns to end smoking have also been reported to help.
Also, globally the amount of people who die from stomach cancer is on the decline with a regular decline of about 4 percent reported annually in the countries of Ukraine, Russia, Australia, Japan, Korea, and the US.
Over in Ethiopia, children may have a better chance of survival after Spain donated $7 million as part of a UNICEF effort to help feed children, and increase the overall nutrition and well being of children in this war torn country.
