The Tiger Woods Scandal revolves around the issue of him having an extramarital affair with Rachel Uchitel. |
This particular story was first published on November 25, 2009 by a tabloid, The National Enquirer.
This story stirred the heated controversies and speculations both within the sports and entertainment world.
Rachel Uchitel was once a dance club hostess, a certified party-girl at the Hamptons notorious for pursuing celebrities and businessmen.
Both Woods and Uchitel denied the allegations. Uchitel for one stated in one of her interviews that "I totally deny the Enquirer story. They did contact me about it, but they didn’t use any of my quotes or any of the information I gave them. They make it sound like I said those things, but it’s all other people saying I said things.”
She further said that the controversies surfaced because a friend of hers named Ashley Samson made up all her stories when she faced the press and was quoted saying that, “Rachel told me, ‘I’m having an affair with Tiger Woods. We’re in love!’ She even read me text messages Tiger sent her that said ‘I love you, babe. It’s always going to be just you and me. They were constantly sexting.”
Interest in the scandal grew bigger as another girl surfaced by the name of Jamie Grubbs, a San Diego cocktail waitress who admitted in Us Weekly that she had a two and a half month relationship with Woods. Grubbs even played some voice messages and showed text messages that were allegedly from the golf superstar.
Woods remained quiet in the course of the scandal not admitting any of the girls' claims. Woods later on apologized to the public because of what he termed as "transgressions" and furthered that he had let his family down.
