Often, the main forms of entertainment such as music, plays, sports, games, and dance that were performed in the main courtyard of the royalty's homes. It was in this location that most artistic people got the chance to show off their talents such as storytellers, poets, singers, and musicians. In fact, even comedians had an audience since the king, who was extremely wealthy, would hire jugglers and jesters to augment the shows.

Many artists of the medieval time period would travel from town to town entertaining different sets of royalty. Each had their own area with expertise with storytellers focusing on historical events and topical events. The musicians focused mainly on love songs that would entertain the masses; and the plays of the time period were often light hearted in nature to entertain all age groups. Many of the plays also had strong religious undertones.

Outside of the performing arenas, games were also popular among all social groups such as the indoor games of knucklebones, chess, and Alquerque, and the outdoor games of horseshoe throwing, wrestling, skittles, and archery. Men from the medieval times also enjoyed sword play and horseback riding.
